At Good Vibes Bikes, we believe bicycles deserve a second life.
Through our Bicycle Donation & Reuse Program, we help restore quality bikes and place them with riders in need across Rockville, Silver Spring and surrounding communities.
Our mission is to promote sustainability, reduce waste, and help more people experience the benefits of cycling.
What Bikes We Accept
To keep this program sustainable, we selectively accept bicycles that can realistically be restored and safely reused.
Accepted bikes typically:
• Are in fair to good condition
• Have no major frame damage
• Have functional or repairable drivetrains
• Are modern and serviceable
• Require only light to moderate repairs
These bikes allow us to efficiently refurbish and redistribute them within the community.
Bikes We’re Unable To Accept
Due to labor, parts, and safety costs, we cannot accept bikes that require extensive restoration beyond their resale or reuse value.
This includes:
• Severely rusted or neglected bikes
• Cracked or bent frames
• Very outdated department-store bikes in poor condition
• Bikes missing major components
• Bikes requiring full drivetrain, wheel, and tire replacement
We appreciate your understanding as we focus on bikes that can make the biggest impact.
If your bike doesn’t qualify for donation, we offer low-cost repair packages to help get it back on the road.
Why We Screen Donations
Restoring a bicycle requires:
• Mechanic labor
• Replacement parts
• Safety inspections
• Workshop time
When repair costs exceed a bike’s value, it limits our ability to help riders in need.
Our screening process ensures the program remains sustainable and effective.
How To Donate
Before bringing a bike, please send photos for approval:

This helps us manage storage and workshop capacity.
Alternative Recycling Options
If your bike doesn’t qualify, we recommend:
• Montgomery County recycling centers
• Scrap metal recycling facilities
